India has volunteered to host the next 'Heart of Asia' conference in the last quarter of 2016, media reports said, citing sources. The official announcement is expected later in the day.
Talking to reporters after the meeting of the senior officials of the participating nations at the Heart of Asia conference in Islamabad, Indian delegates reportedly said the aim is to coordinate the efforts of the countries in the region to support Afghanistan in achieving peace and stability.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday evening, said 'Heart of Asia' conference is important because it is associated with Afghanistan. "That is why I came specially to attend this," she said.
