1. Why you need a BRP
You must have a biometric residence permit (BRP) if you want to:
- apply to come to the UK
- apply to extend your visa or settle in the UK
- transfer your visa to a new passport
- apply for certain Home Office travel documents
How you get a BRP
You don’t have to apply separately for a BRP.
When you make your visa or immigration application you have to give thepersonal data that appears on your BRP.
Problems with the length or conditions of leave
You may be able apply for an administrative review if you think there’s a mistake in the length or conditions of your leave.
You have to pay £80 and apply within 14 days of receiving your BRP. You’ll get the £80 refunded if there was a mistake, and you’re given a new BRP with the right amount or conditions of leave.
